Police Officer Fights For Life Following Taconic State Parkway Crash

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- An eight-year Connecticut police veteran is fighting for his life following a motorcycle crash on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley during a training drill on Wednesday.

West Haven Police said Michael Doyle, 34, an experienced motorcycle rider, was on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley with approximately 25 police motorcycles, when a vehicle merging onto the parkway struck his motorcycle, launching him onto the pavement. 

He was transported by a Life Star helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. 

Others involved in the accident were not injured.
