Sulaiman S. Sayegh, 50, was arrested Tuesday following a more than months' long investigation into his dealing of drugs throughout the area, the department said.

Sayegh hit the Sheriff's Department radar in December after a deputy assigned to the Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) developed information that he was selling cocaine throughout Putnam County.

The unit initiated an investigation into Sayegh’s alleged activities, resulting in the purchase of cocaine from him on four separate occasions within the town of Southeast, the department said.

On Tuesday, members of the unit, along with road patrol deputies and K9 teams located Sayegh operating a vehicle on Putnam Avenue, in the Town of Southeast, and took him into custody. They also recovered cocaine from inside the vehicle which at the time was occupied by a child less than 17 years old.

A short time later, Sheriff’s Office members, armed with a search warrant, seized a quantity of cocaine, packaging materials, a scale, and over $14,000.00 in cash from Sayegh’s residence on Eagles Ridge Road. Also seized were two vehicles used in conjunction with the sale of the narcotics, officials said.

NEU supervisor, Senior Investigator Thomas Corless applauded the efforts of the members of the NEU for their quick actions and successful investigation concluding with Sayegh’s arrest and a halt to his illegal activities.

Sayegh was charged with four felony counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, five felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree, two misdemeanor counts of possession, one count of criminally using drug paraphernalia, and one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.

He is being held at the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond.
