WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Sunday evening report of "shots fired" along Interstate-287 eastbound in White Plains ended peacefully near the Hutchison River Parkway in Rye Brook without incident or arrest.
Rye Brook Police Chief Gregory Austin said the reported road rage incident that ended near King Street was exaggerated by media outlets who reported shots were being fired from a red pickup truck.
Austin said, "The report was made to the Westchester County Police that a weapon was displayed in a road rage incident on the Hutch. We located the suspect car as it exited the Hutch onto King Street. There was no weapon in the car, just a heated exchange between two drivers."
"There is a lot of misinformation being reported," Austin said. "It would be good to get the correct story out."
