Shrub Oak Man, 22, Picked Up On Felony Robbery Warrant

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - A 22-year-old Shrub Oak man was charged Wednesday with attempted robbery in the first degree, a felony, after a warrant was issued for his arrest, Yorktown police said.

Police said a Perry Street resident was walking on Oct. 21, 2012, with a friend when he was struck in the head by Jonathan Tozzo, causing the resident to fall to the ground.

Tozzo allegedly demanded $20 from the victim, who said he had the money at his house, police said. When they got to the house, the victim entered and locked the door to keep Tozzo out, according to the police report.

A search for Tozzo was unsuccessful, and a warrant for his arrest was issued Jan. 4. Tozzo was picked up on the warrant Wednesday when police located him near the intersection of Route 6 and Barger Street.

Tozzo was processed and arraigned, and sent to Westchester County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He is due back in court Thursday night.
