Somers Man Faces Impersonation Charges In Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – A 32-year-old Somers man is facing criminal impersonation, stolen property, and drug possession charges following a routine traffic stop on Sept. 30, Yorktown police said.

Nickolas Rigano was pulled over at 4:20 p.m. on a seat-belt violation, and during the stop, police said Rigano identified himself as a New York State Corrections Officer. According to the report, his truck was towed because the registered license plates did not match the vehicle he was driving.

Following an investigation, Rigano was taken into custody on charges of falsely identifying himself as a corrections officer and possession of stolen license plates. He was also charged with drug possession after an illegal amount of the drug Clonazepam was found in the truck, police said.

Rigano was processed on the charges and released without bail. He is scheduled to return to Yorktown Town Court on Oct. 30.

In other police blotter items:

• A 17-year-old Yorktown resident was charged with driving while intoxicated after she tested for a blood alcohol content higher than .08 percent, police said. According to the report, police responded to East Mohansic Avenue around 10:26 p.m. on Sept. 28 when the teen was involved in a minor accident. She was processed at police headquarters and released without bail. She is due back in court on Oct. 30.
• Michael Scotti, 19, of Yorktown, is facing graffiti charges after being accused of spray-painting electrical boxes owned by Consolidated Edison, police said. Scotti turned himself in on the misdemeanor charge on Oct. 3. He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 23.
• Daniel Ponte, 20, of Mahopac, was charged on Oct. 4 with petty larceny after he was accused of trying to steal shirts from Sears, police said. According to the report, Ponte was accused of putting two polo shirts under his shirt and leaving the store without paying. He was released without bail and scheduled to return on Nov. 8.
• Christopher Rigano, 44, of Mohegan Lake, was arrested on multiple drug charges on Oct. 5, police said. Rigano’s black Suzuki was pulled over at 1:55 p.m. when an officer noticed him “acting suspiciously,” the report said. The drugs were allegedly found on Rigano during the traffic stop. He was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana and arraigned at Yorktown Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail after failing to post $1,500 bail. He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 11.
