New York State Police troopers stopped a 2004 Acura at approximately 10 p.m. on April 21 on Route 9A in Peekskill for a traffic violation, a spokesperson announced on Thursday. During the stop, troopers determined that there was reasonable cause to search the vehicle.
According to police, troopers determined that three occupants of the vehicle were in possession of the large quantity of marijuana.
One of the women, later identified as 27-year-old Somers resident Catherine Donohue had an estimated 196 grams of marijuana, 1,975 grams of consumable marijuana, 2,255 grams of marijuana wax jars, 644 grams of concentrated marijuana oil, 130 grams of marijuana cigarettes and cigars, 300 mg juice containing THC, $621 in US currency, and a flier containing a price list for all items.
Donohue was charged with two felony counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
The two other women, a 20-year-old resident of Buchanan and a 22-year-old from Brewster, were charged with a misdemeanor count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Following arraignment in Cortlandt Justice Court, Donohue was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,000. The two others were released on their own recognizance and are due back in the City of Peekskill Court later this month to answer the charges against them.
