Teen Charged With DWI After Striking Mailbox, Gas Vent, Yorktown Police Say

 A Pawling teen was charged with DWI and multiple traffic infractions after a one-car accident on the 100 block of Granite Springs Road in Yorktown early Monday morning.

The 18-year-old's name is being withheld due to his eligibility for Youthful Offender Status. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, driving without a license, a violation and refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test.

Officers were dispatched after the teen allegedly struck a mailbox and a Con Edison gas vent. An investigation at the scene revealed he was intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to Hudson Valley Hospital Center. He was later released and transported back to headquarters.

He was released on $250 bail and is due back in court on Nov. 9.
