Teen Charged With Possession Of Gravity Knife In Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y. — A 19-year-old Cortlandt Manor man faces a misdemeanor weapons possession charge and several other misdemeanors and violations after a Monday evening traffic stop, police said.

Christopher Eastman was was pulled over at about 5:50 p.m. on Route 6 after making a turn without using a signal, police said. During the stop, police said they found a gravity knife and marijuana as well as an open container of alcohol, according to the police report.

New York's Penal Law defines a gravity knife as one with a blade “released from the handle or sheath thereof by the force of gravity or the application of centrifugal force which, when released, is locked in place by means of a button, spring, lever or other device.”

Eastman was also charged with misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation because his license was suspended, police said. He was also given a violation on a charge of driving an uninsured vehicle, the police report said.

He was released on $200 bail and was due back in Yorktown Justice Court on March 5.
