YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 19-year-old resident of Mahopac on a marijuana possession charge, police said.
The arrest came about when a patrol officer stopped a black Volkswagen traveling at a high rate of speed along East Main Street on Wednesday, about 11:18 p.m., according to police.
An investigation at the scene revealed the operator of the vehicle, identified as Jason J. Manzari Jr., was allegedly in possession of more than 25 grams of marijuana, police said.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters. He was charged with criminal possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor, according to police.
Manzari was issued an appearance ticket directing him to answer the charge in Yorktown Court on Tuesday, Dec. 6, police said.
The defendant was then released without bail, according to police.
