Teen Speeding On Taconic Parkway Charged With Drug Possession, Say Police

EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- A 19-year-old man pulled over for speeding on the Taconic State Parkway is facing multiple drug charges.

Troopers stopped Walker S. Van Zandt of Studio City, California, for speeding on the Taconic State Parkway in East Fishkill at approximately 10:30 a.m. on April 16. 

An investigation revealed that he was in possession of a counterfeit driver’s license, cocaine, concentrated cannabis, marijuana, and bath salts.

Vam Zandt was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (a Class C felony), as well as criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree (a Class D felony), and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (a Class A misdemeanor). 

Van Zandt was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and violating NYS Sanitary Code, which are violations.

Van Zandt was arraigned in the Town of LaGrange Court. He was released under the supervision of probation. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 20 at the Town of East Fishkill Court.
