On Wednesday, the Yorktown Police Department announced that three children under the age of 15 are each facing individual charges of juvenile delinquency - with an underlying charge of petit larceny - after allegedly attempting to steal more than $400 in goods from the Sears location on Lee Boulevard.

The suspects include a 14- and 12-year-old female and an 11-year-old male. Their names are being withheld, as they are eligible for youthful offender status.

According to police, shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police were dispatched to the mall for a shoplifting complaint. The complainant alleges that, while acting in consent, the three attempted to steal merchandise valued at $429.95.

The three juveniles were processed at police headquarters and released to the care of their parents. They are all due to appear in the Westchester County Department of Probation on Wednesday, Dec. 28.
