YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown Police have charged three Mohegan Lake minors with ransacking the Hudson Valley Islamic Center on Wednesday, Sept. 17, officials said.
One of the suspects is 13-years-old and the other two are 12. The names of the suspects are being withheld due to their ages, police said.
Authorities received a report that the building had been ransacked overnight. Officers were able to obtain surveillance footage of the three suspects, police said.
An officer on patrol recognized two of the suspects riding their bikes and detained them for their alleged involvement in the incident. The third suspect was identified and surrendered himself voluntarily, police said.
All three youths were issued juvenile appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Westchester Family Court on Tuesday, Sept. 30, police said.
