Anthony J. Palumbo, of Brewster, and Patrick Holder, of Patterson, were arrested Monday in connection with the day's incident in which tools were taken from a vehicle at the Milltown Road and Old Milltown Road intersection in Brewster, said police.
The report came from a 911 caller saying two white men broke a van's window and removed tools from inside, according to police.
The caller told police the alleged thieves then went into a gray Honda on the passenger side, which then took off.
The victim reportedly tried to stop the Honda but fell to the ground, sustaining minor injuries, according to the report.
State police and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department located the suspects on Shore Drive, said police. Two men were taken into custody and allegedly found to be in possession of the property the victim reported stolen, according to police.
As part of their investigation, state police issued a search warrant on the suspect's homes, revealing they were allegedly involved in additional criminal activity in the Putnam County area, said police. More charges are pending, according to police.
Palumbo was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies; obstructing governmental administration, fourth-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and possession of burglar's tools, all misdemeanors, said police.
Holder was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies, and criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, according to police.
The men were arraigned in Southeast Town Court and taken to jail, in lieu of $15,000 cash/bond, said police.
