Yorktown Man Charged With Shoplifting Thermometers

WESTPORT, Conn. — Two people were arrested on shoplifting charges in connection with the theft of thermometers from the CVS on the Post Road East in Westport, police said. 

Eric Harris, 31, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., was held on $1,000 bond after being charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy.

On Sunday, June 28, CVS reported that the suspects in the thermometer theft had left the store, police said.

A description of the vehicle and license plate was radioed out to responding police units, police said. Two officers located the vehicle in Parker Harding Plaza in Westport, police said, and detained the two occupants.

In plain view in the vehicle was the stolen CVS merchandise, police said. After officers completed the investigation, the two suspects were taken into custody, police said. 

Eric Harris, 31, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Jessica Powling, 31, of Enfield were arrested. Each was charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Powling was released on a promise to appear in court on July 6 in Norwalk Superior Court.  Harris was held on $1,000 bond and issued a court date of July 6 at Norwalk Superior Court.
