Two Store Employees Charged In Westchester Underage Drinking Detail

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- One employee from Westchester and one from Putnam were charged during an underage drinking enforcement operation in Westchester County on Friday, Nov. 28, according to a release by the New York State Police. 

Twelve stores were checked for compliance by utilizing a 20-year-old volunteer to purchase alcoholic beverages, under the observation of plainclothes investigators, supported by uniformed troopers, the release said. Suspects were charged with Prohibited Sale of Alcoholic Beverages for a person under the age of 21, a Class A Misdemeanor, according to the release.

The following stores failed to comply with the state's Alcohol Beverage Control Law and arrests were made on the following employees:

Police said Nicholas A. Maximo, age 24, of Wingdale, an employee at the Croton Falls Gas Mart,  was issued an appearance ticket ordering him to appear before the Town North Salem Court on Monday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. Police said Michael T. Brown, 19, of Mahopac, an employee at Stop & Shop, Route 6, Somers, was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Somers Court on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at 5:30 p.m.

The following establishments were checked and found to be in compliance with state laws: Pound Ridge Wines and Spirits, Pound Ridge; South Salem Wines and Spirits, South Salem; Cross River Shell Gas Station, Cross River; 7-11, Katonah; Somers Mobil, Somers; Shell Gas Station,  Baldwin Place; Valero Wines and Spirits, Somers; Super Stop and Shop, Somers; and Valero Gas Station, Baldwin Place.
