Verplanck Man Fails To Appear In Court, Yorktown Police Say

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - A man accused of petit larceny found himself back in Yorktown Justice Court this week, after he was arrested on a bench warrant for failing to appear in court.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, Verplanck resident Christopher Sheppard, 32, voluntarily surrendered himself into custody at the Yorktown Police Department after a bench warrant was issued for his arrest for failing to appear in court.

According to police, Sheppard was interviewed by police, who confirmed the warrant, and he was arrested. Sheppard was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash or $2,500 bond.

Sheppard is due back in court on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
