Woman Charged With Stealing From Jefferson Valley Mall

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A 58-year-old resident of Mahopac has been arrested on a larceny charge following an incident at Sears in the Jefferson Valley Mall, Yorktown Police said.

The arrest came about when police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the store, located at 600 Lee Blvd., on Saturday around 5:30 p.m., according to police.

Following an investigation, it was determined that the suspect, identified as Vera Berisha, allegedly stole $91 worth of merchandise from the store, police said.

Berisha was taken into custody and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters; she has been charged with petty larceny, a class A misdemeanor, according to police.

After processing, the defendant was released on $100 cash bail, police said.

She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Nov.1, according to police.
