Yorktown Chamber Donates Drone To Police Department

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce has donated a $5,100 aerial drone to the Yorktown Police Department, according to Yorktown News.

The donation, which was recognized in mid-January when Chief of Police Robert Noble presented a certificate of appreciate to the Chamber, will enable investigators to gain a “bird’s eye view” of crime scenes, crash sites and public gatherings, according to Yorktown News.

The drone – a DJI Inspire 1 – will be utilized by a small team of officers and deployed during missing persons, barricade and burglary investigations, Noble said, according to Yorktown News.

The drone was said to have a maximum speed of 67 mph, according to Yorktown News, which reported that the machine also has a pair of in-flight cameras capable of producing high-resolution video.
