YORKTOWN, N.Y. An 18-year-old Yonkers resident was charged Thursday afternoon for allegedly selling ice cream without a license, police said.
Police conducted a compliance check when they saw the teen reportedly selling ice cream out of a truck in the Route 202 commuter lot. The check allegedly revealed he was not licensed to sell the ice cream, and he was charged with peddling without a license, a violation, police said.
He was processed in town court and released without bail. He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 2.
In other police news:
- A 17-year-old Yorktown resident is facing a misdemeanor petty larceny charge for allegedly attempting to steal clothing from Sears in the Jefferson Valley Mall, police said. Officers responded to the store around 3:30 p.m. Saturday to a report of a shoplifter in custody. Police determined the teen allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $142 worth of merchandise. He was processed in town court and released without bail. He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 25.
- Douglas Travis, 41, of Yorktown, was charged Saturday evening for allegedly driving without a license, police said. Travis was stopped around 6:30 p.m. for allegedly speeding in a work zone. According to the report, a routine check revealed his license was suspended. He was processed in town court and released without bail. He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 25.
