Mark Sindaco of 2933 Mead St. was charged with felony robbery in the first degree at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday. Police said they located Sindaco based on an anonymous tip after his photo was caught by a surveillance camera and distributed to local media.

Police said Sindaco was wearing a tan baseball cap and dark-colored Nautica jacket when he walked into the 3660 Lee Blvd. bank at about 4:50 p.m. Monday.

Sindaco allegedly passed a note to a bank teller that said he had a handgun and asked for money, according to Yorktown Police Lt. Richard Malan. The teller gave the man an unspecified amount of cash.

At least one customer and several employees were in the bank at the time, but no weapon was displayed and no one was injured during the robbery, police said.

Police said Sindaco ran from the bank and onto Bank Street. A search of the area by officers and a Westchester County K-9 team was unsuccessful.

Sindaco was interviewed by police and reportedly surrendered to the charges without incident. He was transported to Yorktown police headquarters and processed. He is currently being held with no court date scheduled.
