The arrest was made when police observed what they believed to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction in the parking lot of a local establishment on Tuesday, Aug. 30, according to officials.
Officers followed one of the subjects involved, stopped him in the parking lot of 1929 Commerce St. and conducted an investigation at the scene, police report.
The suspect, identified as Kevin A. Valenzuela, was allegedly in possession of a quantity of marijuana, both on his person and within his vehicle, according to officials.
Valenzuela was taken into custody and processed at Yorktown Police Headquarters, police report.
He was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, according to officials.
The defendant was released on his own recognizance and issued an appearance ticket to appear in Yorktown Justice Court for arraignment on Tuesday, Oct. 4, police report.
