Yorktown Homeowner Reportedly Thwarts Burglary

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – A Corlandt Manor man was arrested after a Yorktown homeowner reportedly fought off a would-be burglar Saturday morning when his house was broken into, police said.

The homeowner told police that he interrupted the attempted burglary around 7:40 a.m. when he saw a man had broken into his house on Pine Grove Court. The two began to fight when the suspect was confronted, police said, and the man fled into nearby woods.

Scott Echeverria, 23, of Cortlandt Manor, was arrested in Peekskill following a joint search by Yorktown Police, New York State Police and Westchester County Police.

Echeverria was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and is being held at Westchester County Jail on $250,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday.
