Yorktown Man Charged With Knocking Victim Unconscious, Stealing Sneakers

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 20-year-old resident of Yorktown on a robbery charge.

The arrest stemmed from an incident in which the suspect, identified as Agron Balaj, knocked the victim unconscious by striking him in the face, then stole a pair of sneakers on Feb. 25, police report.

A warrant was issued for Balaj’s arrest on a charge of robbery in the second degree, a class C felony, according to officials.

Balaj voluntarily surrendered himself to the Yorktown Police Department on Thursday at about 4:40 p.m., officials report.

After processing, Balaj was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and released on $5,000 cash bail, according to police.

An order of protection was issued to Balaj on behalf of the victim and a witness, police report.

Balaj is scheduled to reappear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, April 7, officials report.
