YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 70-year-old resident of Yorktown on a criminal contempt charge, police said.

The arrest came about after an officer was dispatched to investigate the complaint of a past domestic incident on Monday, around 4:27 p.m., according to police.

Following the investigation, it was determined that the suspect, identified as Jack J. Scimeca, was at the residence of a protected person, allegedly in violation of a duly served order of protection issued by the Yorktown Justice Court, police said.

Scimeca was contacted and voluntarily appeared at the Yorktown Police Department, where he was arrested without incident Monday evening, according to police.

The defendant was arraigned and released on his own recognizance, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Court on Tuesday, Oct. 4, according to police.
