Yorktown Police Charge Three in Assault, Robbery

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Three men were arrested Sunday and accused of assaulting and robbing a taxi cab driver in Shrub Oak.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., Yorktown police responded to 400 East Main St. on a report of three individuals assaulting a man. Upon arrival, the victim had left the scene but showed up at Police Headquarters later in the day to report the incident.

An investigation by police revealed that three men dragged the victim out of a taxi cab, assaulted him and stole $640 in cash and a cell phone.

The suspects were later identified as Rene DeJesus Lopez, 30, and Sesar Agusto Martinez, 30, both of Jefferson Valley, and Cesar David Calderon, 25, of Mahopac, all of whom were arrested by Police Officer William Olli and charged with second-degree robbery, a class C felony.

All three suspects were arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court by Judge Gary Raniolo and held at Westchester County Jail without bail.
