Yorktown Police: Driver Involved In Accident Was Drunk, Had Alcohol In Car

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - A 68-year-old man was arrested in Yorktown on Tuesday after he was involved in a car accident while driving with an alcoholic beverage in his vehicle in the afternoon.

On Wednesday, Yorktown police announced that Yorktown resident John Widget was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, after he lost control of his vehicle and was involved in an accident on Baptist Church Road.

According to police, shortly after noon on Tuesday, Jan. 10, officers were dispatched to 1645 Baptist Church Road to investigate an auto accident. Subsequent to the police investigation at the scene, it was alleged that Widget was driving while intoxicated.

Winget was arrested at the scene and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters, where he was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more. He was also served a pair of traffic infractions, including open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
