On July 20, 2012, Darrell Matthews allegedly bought a PlayStation Vita - a handheld video game console valued at $322 - from RadioShack in the Triangle Center using a forged money card, according to the report. The incident was reported to police later in the evening after Matthews left the scene. Following an investigation, police determined the account number on the card belonged to a Briarcliff Manor woman.

On Friday, Matthews was arrested at the Jefferson Valley Mall on an unrelated charge. He was transported to police headquarters and charged for the July 20 incident with identity theft in the second degree, a class E felony, and criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a class D felony.

Matthews was processed and arraigned at Yorktown Justice Court and held at Westchester County Jail on $20,000 bail. He is due back in court at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
