Yorktown Resident Charged With Possession Of A Controlled Substance

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – A Yorktown man was recently arrested on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to a press release from the Yorktown Police Department.

Joseph A. Colaizzi, 30, of Rutledge Drive, is charged with misdemeanor criminal seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts of second-degree criminal contempt, police said.

The charges stemmed from a domestic dispute reported to police about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday.

Yorktown police officers said when they responded to the scene, they discovered that Colaizzi was under the influence of and in possession of a controlled substance; the press release did not specify the nature of the controlled substance.

Colaizzi’s behavior was in violation of an order of protection issued by the Westchester County Family Court, according to police.

Thus, Colaizzi was arrested and transported to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of a $500 cash bond.

Colaizzi’s next scheduled Yorktown Justice Court appearance is Tuesday, May 26.
