The teenager, identified only as an 18-year-old male due to his possible eligibility for youthful offender status, was arrested early Friday morning near Crompond Road, police said.
The teenager allegedly was speeding, which led a police officer to initiate the traffic stop, according to the press release.
Upon further investigation, police said they learned the 18-year-old had two open bottles of alcohol and was driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The teen was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors – DWI and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more, and two traffic infractions – speeding and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, according to police.
The teen was released into the custody of an adult without bail, police said.
The teen is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Yorktown Justice Court.
