Yorktown Teen Charged In Beer Theft

YORKTOWN, N.Y. ? A 19-year-old Yorktown resident was arrested Thursday morning and charged with petty larceny in connection with the Sept. 21 theft of beer from a local gas station, police said.

Brandon Gladman is accused of distracting a clerk at the Shell station in Shrub Oak while a friend walked out with two cases of Budweiser valued at $25.98, according to the report.

Police were unable to locate Gladman, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Gladman was arrested Thursday at around 4:45 a.m. when a car in which he was a passenger was pulled over for an unrelated incident.

Gladman was taken to Yorktown Justice Court, where he was arraigned.

Jeremy Whalen, 21, of Putnam Valley, was charged with petty larceny on Oct. 16 for allegedly stealing items from Sears in the Jefferson Valley Mall, police said.

Police responded to the store around 9:25 p.m. on a report of a shoplifter in custody. Whalen was accused of leaving the store without paying for two bottles of cologne and a bottle of shoe polish. The items were valued at $74.99.

Whalen was processed at Yorktown Justice Court and released without bail. He is scheduled to return to court Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
