YORKTOWN, N.Y. A Jefferson Valley teenager is facing a juvenile delinquency charge after attempting to steal clothing from Sears in the Jefferson Valley Mall, police said.
When police responded to the mall Monday afternoon security personnel had the 14-year-old boy in custody. Police report that he attempted to leave the store around 2:07 p.m. without paying for $87.96 in clothing.
The teen was processed at police headquarters and released to a family member. The juvenile delinquency charge would have been misdemeanor petty larceny had he been an adult, police said. He is scheduled to appear at the Westchester County Department of Probation on Oct. 2.
