Yorktown Teens Charged With Reckless Driving

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Two Yorktown teens were arrested and charged  by Yorktown police with reckless driving, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, unlicensed operator, unsafe passing, failure to comply and operating an unregistered vehicle last week.

The teenage boys' names are being withheld due to their age.

Police said two officers were on patrol when they saw two teens, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, operating motorcycles in a reckless manner on Commerce Street. Officers tried to stop the boys, who police attempted to flee the scene on the motorcycles.

An officer was able to stop the 16-year-old, who attempted to resist arrest, police said. The 17-year-old fled the scene and later voluntarily appeared at the police station at 5:16 p.m.

The teens were arraigned by a judge who remanded both to Westchester County Jail on $1,500 bail. Both are scheduled to appear in Yorktown Court on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.
