MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- A 19-year-old Yorktown Heights woman is facing misdemeanor drug charges after Putman County sheriff's deputies allegedly found her injecting herself with heroin in Mahopac, police said.
Candace Moran, 19, of Crest Drive, Yorktown Heights, is charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, police said.
During a routine patrol at 9 p.m. Saturday in the Lake Secor section of Mahopac, narcotics enforcement deputies saw what they considered suspicious activity in a parked car, police said. They found the woman inside the car with heroin, police said.
She was released pending a court date in Carmel, police said. Both misdemeanor charges carry a punishment of up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, if found guilty, police said.
