It's been reported that tax delinquents in Yorktown owe approximately $3 Million in unpaid town and school taxes.

Little has been done by Supervisor Grace or the Republican Councilmen under his control to collect these overdue and much needed tax revenues.

Grace himself is no stranger to habitually not paying his own Yorktown taxes.

Surprisingly, Grace’s political cohort, State Senator Terrence Murphy is also guilty of not paying thousands in Yorktown taxes.

Grace's skillful inaction in not securing payments from tax delinquents conveniently helps both himself and Murphy from avoiding bad press and having liens placed on their property and their businesses.

It appears that in Grace’s and Murphy’s minds the burden of supporting Yorktown and its school districts doesn't fall equally on everyone's shoulder.

Supervisor Grace and Senator Murphy must believe in their mentor Leona Helmsley’s ideology, "Only poor people pay taxes."

$3 million would go a long way to pave Yorktown's pothole lined roads and or its collapsing infrastructure.

I appreciate that the ever-campaigning Murphy is nice enough to "gift" back to Yorktown its own tax dollars from Albany.

It would be nice if Senator Murphy just stop being a tax delinquent and "gifted" Yorktown with his own overdue tax payments.

Elected officials like Supervisor Grace and State Senator Murphy should lead by example, and not place themselves above the law.

Both Grace and Murphy are always on the prowl for the next photo-op to further their own political ambitions.

My suggestion is that they hold a joint press conference at the Yorktown Receiver of Taxes and pay their back taxes with huge over sized “Publisher Clearing House” sized checks.

Supervisor Grace and State Senator Murphy may need directions to help them find where Yorktowners pay their taxes.

Maybe a senior citizen struggling to pay his own taxes will be nice enough to show them the way.
