Mohegan Lake Man, 24, Charged With Pot Possession

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - A 24-year-old Mohegan Lake man was in possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana when he was stopped on the Taconic State Parkway, New York State Police said.

The man was stopped as part of a roving Occupant Safety Detail on the highway. During the Dec. 28 detail, 21 tickets were issued for seat belt and other violations.

During the stop, a trooper smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, the report said. A search of the vehicle revealed the man was in possession of 20.3 grams of marijuana.

The man was processed on a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and released. He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Jan. 17.
