Six GOP Candidates Eye Maloney's Congressional Seat

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two Westchester County Republicans jumped into the race this week for the 18th Congressional District seat, raising the number of GOP candidates to six, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Phil Oliva Jr. of Somers filed his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Monday, Jan. 4. Two days later, John Lange of South Salem, filed as well, according to the Journal.

Oliva, 42, is a senior advisor to Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino. Lange worked for a Virginia legislator last year, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The Republican who wins the party nomination will take on Democrat Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney in the 18th Congressional District, which includes parts of Westchester County and all of Putnam and Orange counties.
