WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- With 46 out of 54 districts reporting, incumbent John Testa holds a commanding lead in the race for Westchester county legislator in District 1 against Buchanan Trustee Duane Jackson.
Testa, a Republican, leads 60 percent to 40 percent over Jackson, a Democrat.
"I am very pleased and thankful the voters in District 1 re-elected me in such an overwhelming way," Testa said. "It seems like every election I win by a larger margin. I am looking forward to two more years of helping the citizens."
Testa said his constituents can expect him to continue working lowering taxes and reducing spending.
"I am a hard working public servant," Testa said. "I am known as someone who is always available and works hard."
Testa said County Executive Robert Astorino's re-election was tremendous.
"It sends a message that the citizens of Westchester appreciate and agree with his policies," Testa said. "It wasn't about party or registration."
District 1 includes Peekskill, Cortlandt and Yorktown.
