Brackett was nominated for the three-year term ending in December 2017, and Giordano was nominated for the one-year seat ending in December 2015. They each received a majority of the vote in a field that included four candidates.

“We’re thrilled to have Rosanne and Robert on our ticket for this special election,” Democratic Party Co-chairman Ron Stokes said. “These two candidates will make excellent additions to the board with their backgrounds, fresh perspective and energy.”

Brackett, who spent 15 years with Verizon, is a newcomer to Yorktown politics. She has been actively involved and vocal with Town Board and school issues. “Over the last 12 months I’ve been increasingly dismayed and worried about what’s happening to Yorktown,” said Brackett. “The lack of communication flowing from the town to its constituents is creating a division on the board and with the public. I intend to end this discord by bringing new energy, strong research skills and my community outreach expertise to bridge this divisive gap.”

Giordano spent six years on the Yorktown Planning Board, 10 years on the Landmark Preservation Committee and is the founder of the Yorktown Small Business Association, where he has initiated several projects designed to support local small businesses and attract new businesses to Yorktown.

"This ticket is a great lineup for Yorktown,” added Giordano. “Our backgrounds, energy and fresh perspectives, make us a well-rounded team that will complement the Town Board."
