Glen Rock High School Stages 'Little Shop Of Horrors'

GLEN ROCK, N. J. -- More than 40 Glen Rock High School students are preparing to perform in February their own take on the hit musical "Little Shop of Horrors," a dark comedy that inspired the 1986 movie by the same name.

The show takes the stage at 7 p.m. Feb. 4-6 at the high school's auditorium, 600 Harristown Road, Glen Rock. Directed by Christopher Barker, the show follows the original Alan Menken and Howard Ashman gory rock comedy.

Glen Rock's musical direction is provided by Carl Helder. Other production crew members are Rachel Beeksma, choreography; Jeff Kurland, orchestra pit conductor; Juliet McKinley, stage manager; Jake Aboyoun, assistant director; and Bridget Darcy, assistant stage manager.

A Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi musical for more than 30 years, "Little Shop of Horrors" is the story about floral assistant Seymour Krelborn, who stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" after his co-worker crush. He soon learns the plant is intent on taking over the world.

Advance ticket sales start later this month, and tickets also will be sold at the door 30 minutes prior to each show.
