According to the National Day Calendar, the first pies appeared around 9500 BC in the Egyptian Neolithic period or New Stone Age. Aside from being a source of sweet tooth satisfaction, pies have also been used over the years for film humor ever since Actor Ben Turpin received one in the face in the silent movie, "Mr. Flip" in 1909.

In Passaic County, residents have a host of pie places to choose from. Plan now to buy yours. And feel free to tell us any we've missed.
