Political Expert Speaks On Election In Bronxville Talk

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- A political expert is coming to Bronxville to discuss the election this week.

Costas Panagopoulos, professor of political science and director of the Center for Electoral Politics and Democracy at Fordham University, will give the 2016 Jacobson Global Lecture on Wednesday at Concordia College's Sommer Center.

Panagopoulos is an expert on campaigns and elections, voting behavior, media and public opinion, campaign strategy and campaign finance, according to a release.

Panagopoulos has been part of the Decision Desk team at NBC News since the 2006 election cycle. 

He has written dozens of scholarly articles and is the author of "Political Campaigns: Context, Context and Consequences" and co-author of "A Citizen's Guide to U.S. Elections: Empowering Democracy in America."

 In 2015-16, he was a visiting professor of political science at Yale University. 

Panagopoulos is a frequent commentator and analyst for print and broadcast media outlets, including, CNN, "CBS Evening News," "NBC Nightly News," Fox News, BBC, The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. 

Panagopoulos has provided strategic advice to numerous candidates running for federal, state and local offices or in international elections. 

The former editor-in-chief of Campaigns & Elections magazine, Panagopoulos has served on the board of directors of the American Association of Political Consultants and has worked as a consultant in the Electoral Assistance Division at the United Nations.

He received his undergraduate degree in government, magna cum laude, from Harvard University and his doctoral degree in politics from New York University. 

 The Jacobson Lecture Series is named for the late David Jacobson, former Concordia provost and professor of philosophy who had a keen interest in world ideologies, religions, history, and politics. 

 

Wednesday's lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the center. Concordia College is at 171 White Plains Road, Bronxville.
