YORKTOWN, N.Y. Crompond School, an intermediate school in the Yorktown Central School District was the site of an alleged bomb threat Tuesday.
According to school Principal Kenneth Levy in a letter to parents, the threat was vague and considered non-credible. Levy said that the Yorktown Police responded immediately. He explained that following protocol, the children were moved into the gymnasium after it was deemed absolutely safe to occupy.
Levy added that the students were told they were not in danger, and repeated to them that the school was following protocol, a word he said he repeated to ensure them of their safety.
No matter how remote a threat might be the safety of all at CIS is a paramount, he wrote. Protocol will always be followed.
Levy explained that the students were enjoying a video as the county police searched one classroom at a time using bomb-sniffing canines. Afterwards the children returned to their classrooms and were able to have lunch.
You should know that your children were wonderful, Levy said. They were calm and cooperative.
