Drexel Resignation Leaves School Board Vacancy

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- Yorktown Board of Education Trustee Mark Drexel’s resignation left a vacancy the board plans to fill by an application process.

The board announced at its meeting Monday that it is seeking letters from school district residents who have an interest in serving on the board. Those interested are asked to send a letter of interest, resume and any additional information to Rebecca Narvaez, District Clerk, Yorktown Central School District, 2725 Crompond Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 or by email to rnarvaez@yorktown.org. The deadline for submitting information is 4 p.m. Monday, August 15. Those who need more information are encouraged to call 914-243-8199.

The board plans to interview candidates at the August 29 meeting. The appointed trustee will serve until the next board election, which is May 15, 2012.

Drexel said a promotion and the growth of his side business have left him without the amount of time he would like to dedicate to the board as he has the past five years.
