Perez was honored as a Student of Distinction by Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES for excelling at Auto Mechanics. Perez was presented with a medal and certificate by BOCES Tech Center Principal Jim Belucci, BOCES Superintendent James Ryan, and Hendrick Hudson Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter at a Hendrick Hudson board meeting.

“David is a hard-working young man who not only wants to learn himself, but wants to help the other students around him learn as well,” his teacher Kevin Berge said. “His maturity and good will set a standard any instructor would be proud of.”

Because of the high-tech nature of the automotive industry, students have to keep up with constantly changing technology, and this is something Perez, in particular, excels at, Berge said.

“David always puts forth a can-do attitude, even when being challenged by the technology or physical challenges of automotive studies,” Berge said. “Choosing David for Student of Distinction was an easy choice.”
