Grace McMurrin, a New Visions Health student, recently received the recognition during a reception to honor nurses on National Nurses Day.

New Visions Health students in Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES engage in rotations at local hospitals, where they learn all aspects of the health field in a real-world setting, according to a statement from New Visions Health.

According to the statement, many of the program's students go on to medical school, study nursing or pursue other careers in health care.

McMurrin, who plans to study nursing at Adelphi University on Long Island, is a worthy scholarship winner, New Visions Health officials said.

"Grace is a very hard working student with a great work ethic," said Veronica Farlow, a teacher at New Visions Health. "This is a very special scholarship and we are so proud of her accomplishment."
