YORKTOWN, N.Y. - The Lakeland Education Foundation (LEF) will honor three district employees March 9 at its annual Casino Night and Dinner Dance to be held at the Villa Barone in Mahopac.
This year's honorees are Rebecca Carcova, Lisa Ieppariello and Joby Nusbaum, who are all active in the LEF as well as parents of Lakeland students. Ieppariello and Nusbaum work as secretaries at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School. Carcova is a long-time resident of the district and currently works as the district’s webmaster.
“We are proud to honor these three women who have continued to lend support each and every day for the LEF’s efforts,” said LEF President Denise Kness.
The Casino Night is LEF's largest fundraising event of the year, and the Foundation hopes to better the amount it raised last year's event. Sponsors this year include Entergy; Shaw, Perelson, May, Lambert, LLP; Houlihan Lawrence/Barbara Burroni; Hudson Valley Hospital Center and Camp Nabby. The foundation has also joined forces as community partners with The Alliance for Safe Kids and The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce.
The money raised at the charity event will be used to help fund the foundation’s grant program. The foundation has awarded more than $460,000 in grants for the district since it was created in 1994, officials said.
“The Lakeland Education Foundation has been working hard for the past 19 years to enhance the educational experience for all Lakeland students,” Kness said.
