Soundview Prep Receives Exxon Mobil Grant

YORKTOWN, N.Y.—Soundview Preparatory School has received an educational grant from Exxon Mobil Corporation to be used in the school’s science program.

The grant, which was awarded to the school in the amount of $500 was arranged by Sal Jamal, the President of CPD Energy Corp. of New Paltz, who distributes Exxon Mobil products. The gift, which was made through the Exxon Mobil Fuel Marketing Educational Alliance Program, was presented by Fabian Vele, the supervisor at CPD Energy at a school assembly on Tuesday.

Soundview’s Head of School, W. Glyn Hearn said the school was very pleased to receive the grant, and the assistant Head of School, Mary E. Ivanyi explained the grant would be put to use in the science programs.

“The award will be used to support the school’s science program, including this year’s Environmental Science course, in which students are using scientific equipment to test soil and water samples from the campus pond, wetlands, meadow and woods,” she said.
