YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- The Lakeland Central School District and the Shrub Oak Athletic Club joined together to raise a combined total of $20,000 for breast cancer research during a Tackles for a Cure game on Oct. 2.
“It was a true community event, and the district should be proud of the collaboration that the schools provided,” said Beth O’Neill one of the Tackles for a Cure organizers along with Lisa Souza. “The awful weather did not keep our fans away. Instead, they turned out in their pink to join forces for a cause and show the true meaning of support.”
Lakeland High School, Walter Panas High School and Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School participated along with the Shrub Oak Athletic Club for the fundraising game.
