YORKTOWN, N.Y. Homecoming weekend kicked off Thursday at Yorktown High School with a midday pep rally and afternoon sports games, but with even more games and a bonfire still on the way, the weekend is only beginning.
It will be a homecoming game in name only for the varsity football squad, though, which is playing its 2012 home games at Walter Panas High School thanks to a turf replacement project on the high schools main field.
The Huskers fell to 1-2 last week with a 48-29 loss to Poughkeepsie High School and are looking to rebound against a winless Eastchester High School team.
The weekend will culminate with the schools annual bonfire at 6 p.m. followed by a school dance at 7 p.m.
Fridays sports schedule (games are at Yorktown High School unless noted otherwise):
4:30 p.m.: Girls junior varsity tennis vs. Nanuet High School
4:30 p.m.: Girls swimming vs. Beacon High School
6 p.m.: Varsity Football vs. East Chester High School, at Walter Panas High School
Saturdays sports schedule:
