Commissioner John King and the Board of Regents designated the two schools as Reward Schools along with 359 other schools from across the state that have made the most progress or have the highest performance with no significant gaps in student achievement. The designation was based on significant student progress over the past three consecutive years on New York State assessments.
“We are very proud to have received this designation and recognition by the Commissioner of Education, that recognizes the work of students, teachers, administrators, support staff and parents in Yorktown," said Dr. Florence T. O’Connor, Deputy Superintendent of Schools. "Our efforts in our elementary schools from kindergarten through fifth grade provide the foundation that results in continuous achievement in our secondary schools. We will keep students at the center of our efforts as we continue to strengthen our learning community.”
